1946
Even before the liberation, Gongju had a small exhibition space resembling a museum.
This exhibition space was established in 1940 by an organization called the Gongju Historic Site Promotion Association, housed in Sunhwa Hall, a government office building from the Joseon Dynasty in Chungcheong.
This exhibition space was acquired and reborn as the Gongju branch of the National Museum.

The National Gongju Museum started as the Gongju branch of the National Museum right after the nation's liberation in 1946.Even before the liberation, Gongju had a small exhibition space resembling a museum.
This exhibition space was established in 1940 by an organization called the Gongju Historic Site Promotion Association, housed in Sunhwa Hall, a government office building from the Joseon Dynasty in Chungcheong.
